Khadija Foundation Vaccinates Special Needs Children in KPK
Many families in KPK living below the poverty line miss out on several opportunities and basic needs, such as mandatory vaccinations for their children. Regardless of physical and mental disabilities, families with special needs children find it exceptionally difficult to pay for such vaccinations as they barely manage to provide food at the table.
Considering this, Khadija Foundation took the initiative to build awareness around the immediate need to vaccinate your children against Hepatitis B and Typhoid.
By reaching out to schools made specifically for the physically and mentally impaired, we moved forward to launch this project. The vaccination camps took place in three schools: The Special Education Blind School, The Special Education Deaf School, and The Special Education School for the Mentally Challenged. The majority of the students in these schools belonged to low-income families, who were struggling to get by – through our initiative, we aimed to administer Hepatitis B and Typhoid vaccines free of cost.
Moreover, with the help of these vaccination camps, Pepsi Islamabad aims to instill awareness and acceptance while also educating the masses regarding the importance of timely vaccinations.
Our work was widely based on setting up these camps within the KPK region. To be specific, we administered vaccines in the following cities:
- Peshawar
- Attock
- Nowshera
- Charsadda
- Mardan
- Mingora
- Malakand
- Upper Dir
- Lower Dir
- Swabi
- Abbottabad
Khadija Foundation was able to fully administer the vaccinations at Peshawar and its peripheries within 4 days. While 3 days within the Hazara District, such as Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Haripur. Finally, it took 7 days to complete this project in the remaining cities – Mardan, Mingora, Malakand, etc. In totality, we were able to administer 4000 doses of the Amvax B (HEP B vaccine) and 2950 doses of the Tybar (Typhoid vaccine).
At Khadija Foundation, our mission is to reach out to a maximum number of people who struggle to get such vaccinations, and play our role in making lives better for them.
